Portland, an urban parish famed for its welter of seaside tourist resorts, is poised against a more rural suburban life enjoyed in small remote villages like Belle Mont, Belle Castle and Scotts Runn. These poems and short stories speak volumes in terms of a richness enshrined within the natural order of seedtime and harvest, not forgetting the social life endemic to school day, market day as well as church on Sunday.

Born in East Portland, Louise immigrated to Britain in 1957 to join her mother at age 17. Then went on to train as a nurse, gaining registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and devotion drove her to gravitate towards healthcare of the elderly.
